Every year the Council spends over £1m and officers spend thousands of officer hours cleaning up the mess on our streets left behind by those who fail to dispose of their waste properly - this is money and time that could have been spent carrying out vital frontline services for the community of Rhondda Cynon Taf.
By not recycling you are likely to accrue more than the allowed side waste, potentially leading to a £75 FINE as you are failing to manage your waste appropriately in line with how the Council asks you to.
Anyone who produces, imports, keeps, stores, transports, treats or disposes of waste must take all reasonable steps to ensure that waste is managed properly. This duty of care is imposed under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
By sending your waste to landfill, the Council could face large landfill taxes, which will take the funds away from key frontline services.
In addition to all this, you will also be damaging your local environment, by filling up open spaces with waste that will emit harmful gases!
