Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Streetcare team have rolled out changes to the amount of additional black bags (also known as side waste) that will be collected from its residents.
Recycle or receive a £75 fine
The following rules will apply to residents:
- if a resident has a 240 litre bin, NO additional black bags will be accepted
- if a resident has a 120 litre bin (standard issue), 1 black bag will be allowed
- rhondda residents and or those who do not have a bin can put out 4 black bags – excluding ash waste
- if your property has more than one bin, you can only place one bin out for collection. As of February 2015, if you are found to have more than one Council issued bin, then one of your bins will be removed by our Enforcement team
Ash waste will be collected in manageable sized black bags and this will be in addition to the above amount of black bag waste.
Any additional black bags (except ash waste) will not be collected and residents are likely to receive a visit from the Council’s Enforcement and Awareness officers, so that they can help with future waste issues. Following these visits, repeat offenders will face a £75 fine.
Enforcement is always a last resort and if residents are using the Council’s recycling services there should be no excuse for additional black bag waste. If you feel you could be greatly affected by these changes then you are encouraged to contact the Streetcare team as soon as possible and the Council’s waste awareness officers will work with you and support you through the changes.
