Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is in the process of adopting new Model Byelaws which will apply to all registered premises within the borough that practice tattooing, cosmetic piercing, semi-permanent skin-colouring, electrolysis and acupuncture.
They will update the existing byelaws by requiring higher standards and significantly they will apply to premises that carry out cosmetic piercing and semi permanent skin colouring which are not covered by the existing bye laws that are currently being applied.
The byelaws are based on model byelaws, developed by the Welsh Government and these can be viewed here: www.gov.wales/docs/phhs/publications/110705modelen.doc
Please note that most of the premises that are registered in Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council already meet the new standards. Those that do not will be given 6 months from the date of introduction to carry out any works or make any changes that may be necessary. It is anticipated that the new by-laws will come into force in May 2016.
