Halloween at RHP-8

Halloween Spooktacular events for younger visitors take place at the Welsh Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park.

The Council’s popular family tourist attraction is set to be transformed for a limited period - and is a must for young families.

Halloween Spooktacular, which takes place on October 30-31, features all of the traditional events associated with Halloween, including Pumpkin Carving, a Pumpkin Hunt, Face Painting, Arts and Crafts along with Wizard Wand and Broomstick-making workshops.

There will also be a special Halloween Show, starring childrens’ entertainer Chunkie Russell.

Please note: There is an additional cost for Pumpkin Carving and the Wand and Broomstick Workshops.

Due to demand, booking for the Halloween Spooktacular in advance is advisable.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, with responsibility for visitor attractions, said: “The Welsh Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park is a family tourist attraction and therefore is  the perfect venue for our Halloween Spooktacular, offering great family fun.

“There will be lots of activities on offer over the two days to keep the little ones amused, and  during your visit, take a look around and maybe plan ahead by booking a visit to Santa’s Toy Mine later in the year.”

Rhondda Heritage Park is situated on the site of the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery, Trehafod, which ceased production in 1983. At its peak, more than 1,160 people worked at the pit, producing around 1,250 tonnes of coal each day.

It is now one of the Council’s most popular family tourist attractions. Original features include the Pithead Gear, Trefor Winding House, the Colliery Courtyard and the Bertie Winding House.

Attractions include the Black Gold Tour Experience, Café Bracchi and the traditional Welsh Gift Shop, the ideal place to find your unique Christmas presents.
