The annual event allows residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf the opportunity to show their support for the Armed Forces Community and the Royal British Legion.
The 2017 Rhondda Cynon Taf Festival of Remembrance will feature The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh, with Director of Music, Major Denis Burton MBE.
The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh is the last surviving all brass band left within British Army Music and are favourites at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff during the Six Nations rugby championships.
With a versatility and style of repertoire which is both unique and highly popular, The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh will perform a selection of pieces throughout the evening.
There will also be a performance by Dutch male choir Urker Zangers, which was founded in 1968 and is currently celebrating their 40th anniversary. They perform a mixed programme of songs at concerts all over the world and regularly appear on stage and television in their native Netherlands.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Cllr Margaret Tegg, said: “The Rhondda Cynon Taf Festival of Remembrance continues to be such an important event in our calendar each year as we continue to support our Armed Forces personnel, at home and overseas, past and present.
“It provides the opportunity for personal reflection and also for us to show our eternal gratitude to all of our local people who are serving, or have served in the Armed Forces.
“The Festival of Remembrance Concert is also a time for our communities to acknowledge their dedication and bravery, as well as recognise the work of the Royal British Legion.”
Please note: Parking will be available on the night, for those attending the Festival of Remembrance Concert, at the adjacent Co-Operative store car park.
The Royal British Legion, formed in 1921, unites the four national organisations of ex-Servicemen that had been established after the First World War.
Providing a valuable support service for the Armed Force and their families, the first Poppy Appeal took place was launched in November, 1921.
