The Council’s popular family outdoor water attraction, the only one of its kind in Wales, has proved to have been a big hit with all ages once again, with the season officially coming to an end on Sunday, September 10.

With all children under the age of 16 able to swim FREE at the National Lido of Wales during the summer season, the pools proved to be very popular, especially during the school holidays.

As well as lane swimming and leisure swimming, visitors were also able to take part in a host of aquatic activities, including Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz, while younger visitors were able to enjoy the Splash Pool.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, with responsibility for visitor attractions, said: “We have had yet another fantastic season at the National lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, with just under 72,500 visitors since we opened this season on April 8.

“We are so proud to have such a facility within our County Borough. It not only raises the profile of Rhondda Cynon Taf and attracts people from all over Wales and beyond, but it also provides a boost to the local economy.”
