Rhondda Cynon Taf Council partners with Hafod and Persimmon to deliver affordable homes.

Llanilid 02

The six one-bed apartments were handed over to Hafod, one of the leading providers of affordable housing in Wales, on Tuesday 23 January.

The apartments are part of the former open cast coal site, Parc Llanilid, a significant development that aims to meet the high demand for housing in the area.

When complete, Persimmon’s Llanhilid site will see the creation of over 1000 homes, as well as featuring a new primary school and village centre, including leisure, retail, and community facilities.

Councillor Mark Norris, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Development & Prosperity, said:

“I’m very pleased that our partnership with Hafod and Persimmon has delivered much needed affordable housing in the south of our County Borough.

“Demand for housing, especially affordable housing, is very high in the local area and these homes are part of a wider development with community at its core.

“Working with partners such as Hafod and Persimmon to deliver homes for our residents is just one of the many actions Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is taking to create much needed homes, alongside our incredibly successful programme to bring empty homes back into use and our Extra Care schemes to provide independent living for older residents.

“I know that the new residents will love their new homes, and I wish them all the best.”

Hafod’s Head of Development, Neil Taylor, said:

“By working alongside partners like Persimmon Homes and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Hafod can provide homes that deliver more than bricks and mortar.

“These new homes will be part of a vibrant community with great access to amenities, meeting the need for high quality, affordable homes.

“We are pleased to have delivered these attractive apartments and are delighted that our new customers will soon be calling them home.”
