All Local Authorities have a statutory duty to examine the childcare market and ensure that there is suitable childcare provision in the local area to enable parents/carers to work or undertake education or training in order to make the transition to work.
As part of this duty, every Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC is required to prepare a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA) every five years, with annual updates .
Local Authorities use a range of data and information to develop a picture of the current childcare market and to identify whether there are any gaps in childcare provision. Using this information, an action plan is prepared to identify where, when and what type of childcare provision should be developed or supported.
