These qualifications aim to equip those aim to equip those individuals delivering frontline parenting services with essential knowledge and skills to enable them to work with parents effectively.
They aim to support those new to their role as well as provide ‘top-up’ training and continuous professional development opportunities for staff working in the sector.Completing this qualification will enable the learner to support parents in improving their understanding of their own role and their children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs and the context of family life.
The Work with Parents qualifications are available at Award levels 2, 3 and 4 and Certificate level 3.
Level 2 is for learners who work or want to work as co-facilitator/volunteers or parent support workers who deliver universal support services (under supervision).
Level 3 is for learners who work or want to work as parent liaison officers, home school support advisors, parent support advisors, parenting group leaders/facilitators, parenting support home visitors, senior support workers, multi-agency staff delivering parenting support e.g. youth offending team, family practitioners or parenting practitioners in settings that provide services to parents.
To undertake the level 3 certificate, learners must be working/ volunteering in the relevant job role to show their competence.
Level 4 is for learners who work or want to work as managers (of level 2 and 3 practitioners) or developing managers, or lead development officers.
The Early Years and Family Support Services Training Centre attract funding on an annual basis to allow learners to undertake these qualifications. Whether you are eligible for funding will depend on the funding criteria set at the time.
