The Cynon Trail follows the River Cynon from Hirwaun in the north to Abercynon in the south.  It is part of the National Cycle Network (NCN 478) with links to Penderyn and Garwnant, the Heads of the Valleys Cycleway (NCN 46) and with the Taff Trail (NCN 8).

Most of the route is traffic free, surfaced with gentle gradients.

There are some ‘on road’ sections, notably in Cwmbach and Hirwaun.  The ‘off road’ route through Mountain Ash by the river has now been completed.

  • Distance approx - 11 miles / 19km
