Dare Valley Country Park - Cae Mawr Trail

Dare-Valley-Trails-Box

The Cae Mawr Trail takes you off the beaten track at Dare Valley Country Park, along countryside paths through wooded areas and along the valley sides of the former coal mining site.

Venture into ancient woodland, gasp at views of the Brecon Beacons and dramatic sights of the glacial cwm before returning to the valley floor passing former colliery sites, lakes and enjoy lots of open space.

The 4km walk starts and finishes at the Visitor Centre, and is way-marked with blue arrows on blue banded posts. Finish of with a cuppa and cake at the onsite cafe, a game of laser tag at Combat Zone Live or perhaps a visit to Greenmeadow Riding for a gentle canter with the horses.

Please note, sturdy footwear is recommended, as the path may be wet and uneven in places.  The terrain requires you to climb over stiles and navigate a mixture of countryside paths and uphill climbs.
