A Taste Of Tonyrefail Gets Tastier!

Cyflwynwyd: Dydd Gwener 27th Ebrill 2012

Home-grown singing sensations and X Factor stars Lucie Jones and Tom Richards will entertain the crowds at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s fantastic, free, A Taste of Tonyrefail extravaganza.

The live music element of the family event has been confirmed, with visitors to Ty’n-y-Bryn Park on Sunday, April 29, enjoying performances from the talent that caught the eye of – and secured acclaim from – music mogul Simon Cowell on the X Factor.

Both young acts made it through to the final stages of the hottest music competition around, thrilling audiences, impressing acclaimed judges including Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh, with their talent, which was honed right here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The confirmation of the music acts comes just weeks after the Council secured celebrity chef Gino D’Campo as special guest. Italian star Gino will return to RCT following his sensational appearance at the Council’s Big Welsh Bite in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, last summer.

A Taste of Tonyrefail is a hot new event for 2012, organised by the Council to celebrate life in Rhondda Cynon Taf and showcase the area as a great place to live, work and visit.

Open from 11am to 5pm, the day really will offer something for everyone, with an appealing live music element, fun, cookery and more from Gino and an exhilarating It’s A Knockout competition which will have all the action and laughs of the television series upon which it is based.

Visitors can peruse hand-made arts and crafts, taste and purchase delicious local refreshments and enjoy a great day out with children’s entertainment, rides and more.

As well as bringing the community together and offering a great, free, fun day out, A Taste of Tonyrefail is also a celebration of all that is good about local life and a chance for the Council to showcase Rhondda Cynon Taf as a great place to live, work and visit to those further afield.

Christian Hanagan, Head of Strategy, PR and Tourism at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “We are very excited to confirm Lucie and Tom as part of the live music element of A Taste of Tonyrefail, offering crowds a real musical treat while also showcasing the exceptional music talent for which our county borough is acclaimed.
