Mini campaigners from Rhondda’s Ysgol Hen Felin put their questions to Mayor Cllr Sylvia Jones during a very special visit to her parlour this month.

Pupils from the Ystrad Special School’s Council attended the ceremonial parlour in the Municipal Building, Pontypridd, to find out more about the role of Mayor and also what it means for Rhondda Cynon Taf.

As part of their ongoing work to help raise awareness among themselves and their classmates about the issues that matter, the pupils also asked questions about community life, such as access to play and sport, dog fouling and more.

Mayor Cllr Jones was delighted to host the young pupils, who she said were a “credit” to the school with their interest in the world around them and commitment to make things better.

She said: “It has been a busy year in office as Mayor and one of my most favourite things has been meeting so many people from so many walks of life, who each have their own insight into life in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

“The pupils from the School Council at Ysgol Hen Felin were a pleasure to meet and I was pleased to answer their questions, which show how conscientious they are about the issues that affect them, their classmates and their wider community.”
