CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

 

Dates

The Business Advice Team (BAT) are providing training for the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering on: Wednesday 19th June; Tuesday 13th August; Thursday 19th September; Wednesday 23rd October 2013 and Thursday 14th November 2013.

Cost

The cost of the course is £51 per person for residents or owners/employees of businesses within Rhondda Cynon Taf and £60.20, if not within these categories.  There is an additional fee for foreign language papers of £14.10.  Re-sits cost £17.35.  Please note no refunds will be issued for cancellations or non attendance.

The Course is taught at  Ty Elai, Dinas Isaf East, Williamstown, Tonypandy CF40 1NY.

Course Content

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering has been designed to give food handlers an appreciation of the basic principles of food hygiene. This can enable them to work with food in a hygienic manner that prevents contamination and protects consumers from food poisoning.  Further information and the course syllabus can be found on the following webpage|.

Topics covered include: -  
Food safety hazards Cooking, Hot holding & re-heating of foods
Taking Temperatures Cleaning/disinfection
Food spoilage and food poisoning Personal hygiene
Refrigeration, Chilling and cold holding of foods Food premises and equipment

The 8-hour course is conducted in an informal, relaxed atmosphere by our trainers and is intended to be interesting and informative. The short examination paper taken at the end of the course consists of 30 questions with multiple-choice answers.  Answers are given by marking a cross in the relevant box on an answer sheet. Candidates who achieve a score of at least 20 out of 30 will receive a certificate from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
