Best Bar None

Best-Bar-None

Best Bar None is aimed at ensuring everyone has a great night out in a range of licensed premises that are responsibally-managed and operated.

By working with the licensed industry, we can offer and maintain a safe, welcoming and attractive social experience.

In 2006, Rhondda Cynon Taf become the first County Borough in Wales to adopt the exciting Best Bar None awards scheme.

The UK-wide scheme, which is backed by the Home Office and BII was piloted in Manchester in 2003 and has since been adopted by almost one hundred other Towns and Cities with great success. For more information visit the Best Bar None National Website.  |

Best Bar None aims to reward licensees who provide good management, a safe and enjoyable environment for customers, discourage binge drinking and prevent alcohol-related crime.

It encourages licensees to act responsibly and take pride in their premises and surroundings and, in doing so, put something back into their local community.

The rewards for licensees include: the prestige of being part of the awards scheme, increased business within the area and lower insurance premiums resulting from the fact that they are running safer establishments.

Licensees receive their awards at a high profile black tie dinner, which attracts over 100 guests.

The biggest winners in Best Bar None are visitors to Rhondda Cynon Taf, who are able to reap the rewards of a borough that is more welcoming, attractive, lively and above all safe.

The aim of Best Bar None is to promote responsible management of licensed premises and in doing so, recognise good practice. Ensuring our borough is a safe and enjoyable place to enjoy a night out is vital to the economic growth and sustainability of the region.

Once again, the scheme has been made possible by the collaboration between Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, South Wales Police and the local licensed trade. The scheme actively promotes a safer, more secure environment in which to enjoy yourself in the borough.

The 2010 awards has welcomed a staggering 55 premises being accredited, so keep a look out at your local pub or bar and see whether they’re displaying one of the recognizable Best Bar None logos.

Best Bar None aims to reward venues that are well managed and that take customer safety seriously.
