School Catchment Areas
The Council is currently consulting on proposed amendments to certain school catchment areas in the County Borough. Details are:
Y Pant Comprehensive School

Dolau, Llanharan and Brynnau Primary Schools

Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg/Ysgol Gyfun y Cymer
As a result of a historical anomaly, part of the village of Trehafod (the lower part of the village that forms part of the Rhondda electoral ward) currently falls in to the catchment area of Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg, Church Village, when Ysgol Gyfun y Cymer, Porth is much closer. It is proposed, therefore that from September 2015, the entire community of Trehafod shall fall in to the catchment area of Ysgol Gyfun y Cymer if pupils require Welsh Medium Secondary education provision. The small number of children resident in the area in question that will change, who currently receive free transportation to Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg (2 children at present) will continue to receive this provision until they leave that school.

Welsh in Education Consultation
The Council is currently undertaking statutory consultation on its Welsh in Education Strategic Plan for the period 2014 – 2017. You can access the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan for further details and there is also a Welsh in Education Questionnaire which can be downloaded and completed if required.
The closing date for any comments or responses to this consultation is 3rd March 2014
