Cemeteries and Bereavement Services

The Council’s Cemeteries will be open as usual over the Bank Holiday period. There are sometimes exceptional circumstances when we have to close the cemeteries to vehicles at short notice.

If it is necessary to close a cemetery to vehicles, a notice is placed on the Cemetery gates advising the public. As soon as it is safe to do so the Cemetery gates are opened to vehicles.

The cemeteries can be accessed by pedestrians when closed to vehicles but we would urge people to exercise caution when visiting our cemeteries in adverse weather and to ensure they wear appropriate clothing and footwear to avoid falls and injury.

The Council is committed to keeping the cemeteries open to visitors and will only take these measures when it is absolutely necessary to protect public safety.

If you need any information regarding the opening times of our cemeteries please contact Bereavement Services on 01443 402810. Bereavement Services will be closed on Monday 27th May.
