The Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf

I have been humbled and overwhelmed by the invitation to become the First Citizen of the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf.  In accepting the invitation at my Inauguration at Full Council on Wednesday 25^th May 2011, I realise the responsibility I have to everyone, young and old, living in the County.

Having been involved in Voluntary Work all my life I am well equipped for the position I now hold.   As a result of my work in the community over many, many years, the charities I have therefore chosen are all ones in Rhondda Cynon Taf where I know the money will be spent within the County.   

The Mayor's charities for 2011/12 are the following:

• RCT Crossroads
• Rhondda Powerhouse Trust, Llwynypia
• Mid Rhondda Operatic Society
• GTFM Community Radio, Taff Ely
• Colstars Youth Theatre, Cynon Valley
