School Governors

Dedicated support is provided to all governors in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Governors are one of the largest groups of volunteers promoting learning opportunities, encouraging the children and young people of the Authority to reach their full potential.

Rhondda Cynon Taf has 3 Nursery, 112 Primary, 19 Secondary and 4 Special Schools. Governors play a vital role in the life and work of our schools, and this is recognised throughout the education system. The Becoming a School Governor document| will explain in detail the role and responsibilities of school governors.

Training courses and opportunities are offered with no cost to governors. Some options for Governor Training are:-

  • Our current Governor Training - Summer Programme 2012
  • It may also (subject to demand) be possible to offer ‘tailored’ training courses to individual governing bodies, or to clusters, on any topic of your choice.
  • We are linked with some Neighbouring Authorities, and therefore if you live outside of RCT it may be possible for you to attend a Neighbouring Authorities courses.

If you are interested in attending any of the courses in the programme please complete the attached application form and return to Janet Jenkins. For further details on ‘tailored’ training courses and/or wishing to attend Neighbouring Authority Governor Training please see links on the right hand side of the page and then contact Janet Jenkins for further information- 01443 744060 or via e-mail on janet.jenkins@rctcbc.gov.uk
