 All Rhondda-Cynon-Taf libraries provide free access to computers and the Internet. These computers may be used to search for information, send e-mails, and for word processing or preparing presentations.

Libraries offer the following from every computer:

  • Internet
  • Shortcuts to online Information resources
  • MS Word for word processing
  • MS Excel for spreadsheets
  • MS Powerpoint for presentations
  • MS Access for databases
  • Acrobat Reader

At least one computer in each library will also provide access to the following:

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements
  • Cicero for screen readings and magnification from scanned documents
  • Cysgair online Welsh dictionary
  • Cysill for Welsh spellchecking
  • Frontpage for web design
  • Publisher for desktop publishing
  • Supernova for screen readings and magnification
  • Other IT facilities provided in every library:
  • Black and white printing
  • Colour printing
  • Scanning
  • Computer disks and CD-R are sold
  • Charges apply for printing and purchase of disks. Please see charges for details.

Conditions of use

Access is free for all library members. Membership cards must be produced prior to the commencement of a session on the computer

All Internet use is monitored.

All users will be required to complete an Internet agreement form stating that they have read and understood the library service usage policy.

Children and young people under the age of 16 will be allowed access to the Internet provided that a parent or legal guardian has signed a consent form on their behalf. These forms must be signed in the library and witnessed by a member of the library staff.

The parent or guardian is responsible for the material that their children view. The library service assumes no responsibility for supervising access by children.

Booking Information

Pre-booking is advisable. Computers may be booked up to one week in advance. Please note that should the user fail to arrive at the time booked, the session will only be held for a period of 10 minutes, following which it will be deemed as available to other users who will then retain the session.Treorchy Library Public Access PC

Sessions may be booked for up to a maximum of 2 hours. If the demand for access to the computers is not high at the time, a session may be extended.

Subject to availability, some computers may be available for unbooked use.

Visitors to Rhondda-Cynon-Taf

Access is free for all visitors to Rhondda-Cynon-Taff. Proof of home and visiting address must be provided prior to the commencement of a session on the computer
