Have you caught Olympic fever?Any sporting opportunities taken your fancy?

It’s been a week since the launch of the global sporting phenomenon and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Leisure Services| are urging people of all ages to get inspired and get involved in the sports they are currently enjoying on the box!

In fact, Leisure Services are so proud of the range of sports and activities on offer all over Rhondda Cynon Taf for people of all ages and abilities – including most of those people are currently glued to – they are inviting them to make contact to find out more.

Who would have thought archery could become so cool? Well thanks to The Games and its global audiences, it is. But don’t just watch – do!

Archery is one of the few sports that people of any ability can do and, best news of all, there are clubs right here in Rhondda Cynon Taf just waiting for you to strike.

Make a splash and get involved in diving at Aberdare Pool or make strokes in swimming with excellent water-based activities across the county borough in all our fantastic swimming pools.

There are athletic tracks for budding Usain Bolts, football teams for wannabe Beckhams can join, hockey, netball, volleyball, cycling, swimming, rugby and much much more.

Many of the Olympic sporting heroes get involved in sports and activities other than their specialist fields as a way to train and prepare or even relax and unwind. These activities include circtuit training, state-of-the-art-gyms, pilates, yoga, aerobics, aqua aerobics and more - all of which you can try out yourself at your local leisure centre.

There are specific opportunities for those who have disabilities and also extensive opportunities for those who wish to launch their own sporting team or need help qualifying as a referee, coach or official|.

In fact, there is not much the team don’t know about. Name the sport and they will find you a local club, class or opportunity.Search online| or contact the team|.

Want to try something new but not sure what will suit you? Give them a call and tell them more and they will give you some tips and signposting!

Whether you want to get a little fitter, fancy losing weight, want a different social experience or want to hone a hidden talent or burning passion and be at the next Games, we can help!

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is not only determined to ensure residents are inspired by the Olympics, they have actually secured an official accreditation from the London Olympic Games Organising Committee for their plans for the future, using The Games as a means of encouraging people to change their lives.

The Inspire Mark was presented to the authority last year.
