As thousands of people prepare to descend on Pontypridd for the biggest event of the year, the town’s café and restaurant owners are joining forces to offer attractive meal deals for the concert goers.
Ponty’s Big Weekend is one of the most important events in the live music calendar throughout the UK and as it gets bigger and better the popularity continues to grow.
On the run up to the flagship weekend which is organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and its partners Orchard Entertainment, traders in the town centre are keen to offer visitors good quality food and drink from their businesses .
Led by the café owners with the aim of promoting the town, a whole host of meal deals are being introduced on the Big Weekend.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development & Community Safety Cllr Paul Cannon said, “This was launched by the café and restaurant owners themselves for the benefit of the public and the good of the town’s economy.
“Through a business forum the proprietors discussed the initiative, brought it to us at the Council and we immediately agreed and supported their endeavours. This type of partnership working is of paramount importance and we look forward to continued cooperation for the good of Pontypridd in the future.”
This year the Council and its partners are allowing ticket holders to enter the Park along the designated route with their food as long as it is consumed prior to reaching the actual concert area itself.
During the weekend the headline acts include Jessie J on Friday, July 20, Olly Murs on Saturday, July 21 and Alfie Boe performing on Sunday, July 22.
This incredible line-up, already supported by top names including Cover Drive, Diana Vickers, AME, Laura Wright, Amore, Ladies Love A Super Hero, Lucie Jones and more, now got better, thanks to the Fringe Festival. being held in locations throughout the town including the YMCA, Clwb y Bont and at The Muni Arts Centre.
