Private operators, such as AP Travel, Edwards Coaches, First Call Travel, First Cymru, Glamorgan Bus, Humphreys Coaches, Stagecoach in South Wales, St David’s Travel and Thomas of Rhondda operate most of the bus services within Rhondda Cynon Taf on a fully commercial basis. The Council subsidises approximately 7% of bus routes, providing for services which might otherwise not run, e.g. evening and Sunday services.
Rail services in Rhondda Cynon Taf are operated by Arriva Trains Wales, following their award in December 2003 of a new, 15-year integrated rail franchise to provide interurban, rural and commuter passenger rail services throughout Wales and the border counties.

Every bus stop in Rhondda Cynon Taf has a unique 7 letter code which is displayed at the stop or can be obtained by ringing the call centre or visiting the website.
