The Welsh Government (WG) has expanded the High Street Rates Relief scheme to eligible ratepayers for 2019/20. The enhanced scheme will provide support of up to £2,500 towards non-domestic rates bills for retail properties with a rateable value of up to £50,000.

Properties that will benefit from the relief will be occupied high street businesses and retail properties such as shops, restaurants, cafes and drinking establishments, with a rateable value of £50,000 or less.
Relief will be granted to businesses based on occupation between 1st April 2019 and 31st March 2020.
However, unlike previous years the 2019/20 scheme is not limited to high street premises but will include all properties within RCT that meet the wider retail criteria. Guidelines provided by Welsh Government can be accessed below and provide details as to the types of premises that may fall under the scheme.
