Miskin IFST - TFT Privacy Notice

How we use your personal information for Miskin Integrated Family Support Team (IFST) and Therapeutic Families Team (TFT) purposes

 

The Council provides services for local communities and the people who live in them.  Undertaking this work means that we must collect and use information about the people we provide services to and keep a record of those services. Because we collect and use personal information about individuals we must make sure that they know what we intend to do with their information and who it may be shared with. 

We have summarised in this privacy notice some of the key ways in which we use your personal information for Miskin, IFST and TFT purposes. This information should be read in conjunction with the Council’s corporate privacy notice.

 

1.    Who we are, what we do.

 

We work directly with children, young people and their families to reduce risk and provide positive outcomes such as children returning home from care and prevention of children becoming looked after. 

 

2.    What and whose personal information we hold?

 

We record personal details such as; name, date of birth, address on all family members who live within the family home and form part of the family unit.

 

We may also ask you about your wellbeing and any safeguarding issues and will record details of our work with you.

 

 

3.    Where does the service get my information from?

 

Most of the information we have relating to you and your family comes directly from you, when you have been referred to us from the Enquiry & Assessment Team and the Intensive Intervention Team, 16 Plus Teams.

 

We could also receive information from other professionals such as;

 

  • Information, Advice & Assistance Team
  • Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service
  • Disabled Children’s Team
  • Police
  • Youth Offending Service
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Schools
  • Health professionals such as Health Visitor

 

4.    What will we do with your personal information?

 

We use the information you tell us to provide you and your family with the relevant support, to;

 

  • Process your referral and offer support
  • Undertake an assessment of you and your family’s needs.
  • Develop and review your support plan

 

We may also share your information with other organisations who can provide you with additional support.

 

 

5.    What is the legal basis for the use of this information?

Data Protection law says that we are only allowed to use and share personal information where we have proper and lawful reasons for doing so.

 

As a public body we have a legal obligation to provide you and your family with support

 

 

6.    Does the service share my personal information with any other organisation?

 

We may also share your information with other organisations who can provide you with support, this will be identified as part of our ongoing work with you.

 

Whilst attending an activity and in the event of an emergency such as an accident, we will share your information with a medical professional.

 

Where there are child protection/safeguarding concerns we have a legal obligation to process a persons data without your consent.

Where there are no safeguarding concerns, but a referral could be made for support, consent is required.

 

7.    How long will my information be kept?

 

Your information will be kept in line with legislation and for no longer than necessary for the purpose of which it was collected.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you important rights, including the right to access the personal information the services hold about you.
