Programmed to be open in 2018, Tonyrefail is set to transform into a 3-19 school. The works being undertaken to achieve this include the demolition of all buildings except the Victorian listed building which is being refurbished, rebuilding elements of the upper school, new school buildings for key stages 1-5 and improved sports facilities.

The new build elements of the work and the renewal of features in the Victorian listed building will allow for a 21st Century Education to be delivered to the highest standard in Tonyrefail. These works will accompany the development of a new 3G pitch in Tonyrefail which is already being used extensively by the school and the local community, together with new specialist PE teaching facilities in the adjacent Tonyrefail Leisure Centre.

UPDATE – secondary element (December 20, 2018): The upper school construction works have progressed over the last three months. The heating system was recently put on, and several classrooms are completed to a 21st Century standard. The new secondary element of the school is on schedule, and it will be followed by the demolition of the current secondary school building during the summer holiday in 2019. This space will be used to provide additional parking to serve the school.

The construction company Morgan Sindall are conducting these works.
