FIVE thousand of Rhondda Cynon Taf's youngest residents, and their teddy bears, flocked to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park for a day of fun and discovery.
The annual Teddy Bears' Picnic returned to the beautiful park on June 23 and was packed full of activities, arts, crafts, music, games for children to enjoy, while their parents and carers found out more about the services on offer for families throughout RCT all the year through.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Family Information Service hosts a huge range of information on the services, events and support that is on offer to children aged five and under and their families or childcare providers.
The Teddy Bears' Picnic brings those services to life, allowing little residents to enjoy the books they can hire at the library (for free) through live storytelling, music and dance, arts and crafts and more.
The day also allowed parents to find out more about the childcare options on offer to them and how to seek assistance choosing the right childcare.
Essential health and wellbeing advice, including dental care, was also offered and, of course, there were clowns, magicians, funfair rides and mascots to keep the children entertained.
Cllr Christina Leyshon, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Deputy Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "There is so much on offer for our youngest residents and their parents or carers and we are so pleased so many of them attended Teddy Bears' Picnic to find out more.
"Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and its partners deliver a huge range of services for families with young children and the Teddy Bears' Picnic is a great way to showcase those services.
"From general information on school admissions and how to choose the right childcare, to things to get involved with, such as Language and Play sessions at Libraries or the support from Communities First, there were loads of things to find out at the event.
"I hope the parents and carers who attended found out lots of useful information and we know the under-fives had a great time! We are keen to improve it year on year and would appreciate feedback from those who attended via this link
