 With weather temperatures hitting 27°C (80°F) in Rhondda Cynon Taf this week, more and more people have been heading to the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, to cool off.

Swim sessions can be booked online up to seven days in advance. Over 200 tickets are also released at 9am daily at the Lido Ponty Reception Desk, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: Bookings cannot be made over the telephone.

In the last four days alone, over 3,000 people have visited the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, with over 1,000 more already booked online for the weekend ahead.

The wonderful summer weather is expected to continue, and all visitors to the National Lido of Wales are advised to bring plenty of sun lotion with them and apply it regularly.

Councillor Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “There is no better place to be in this weather than at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty. Poolside is a fantastic suntrap and visitors could be mistaken for thinking they are overseas.

“We are so proud to have this facility on our doorstep in Rhondda Cynon Taf - it is a fantastic family tourist attraction and is the Number One outdoor water attraction in South Wales.

“Thousands of people are joining us each week, especially during this hot spell - so head online to make your booking and come and join us to cool off!”

The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, has full disabled access, including entry into the main pool. Admission to the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, is £2 per adult and FREE for children under the age of 16.

As well as the opportunity for lane swimming and more relaxed swims, and a Splash Pool for the little ones, there are also a host of water activities on offer throughout the 2018 season.

For just £2.50, visitors can enjoy everything from fun inflatables to Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz.

Open daily 7:30am to 7:15pm, starting with lane swimming sessions followed by casual swim and activities session, there are three swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities, whatever the weather. 

Originally opened in 1927, Lido Ponty has undergone a major redevelopment in recent years, attracting visitors from all over the country and overseas.

The £6.3m Grade II listed outdoor family water attraction was officially re-opened on July 6, 2016, by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall. 

The Waterside Café, open all year around, offers many mouth-watering delights on its menu for all ages and culinary tastes.

Lido Play, the children’s adventure park, which is also open all year round, captures the imagination of younger visitors as they explore the swings, slides and tunnels in this locally-themed attraction celebrating our industrial past.
