The Welsh Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park is now open on Sundays, allowing visitors an extra day to go along and enjoy the great family tourist attraction in the heart of Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Popular with visitors from all over the UK and overseas, a new attraction at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery for 2018 is Dram: The Cinematic Experience, which forms part of the Black Gold Experience Underground Guided Tour.
Hundreds of people of all ages have already taken their seats and enjoyed the thrills of the new attraction – but the public now have an extra day to plan their visits.
The Welsh Mining Experience is now open on Sundays, as well as throughout the week and Saturdays, from Sunday, June 3 until Sunday, August 19.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services and Visitor Attractions, said: “We have listened to feedback from visitors, which has been full of praise for the Welsh Mining Experience, and are pleased to be extending our opening to include Sundays over the summer months – giving even more people the opportunity to come and enjoy all that is on offer.
“Recent investments in the facility has seen the launch of Dram: The Cinematic Experience, a new audio visual interpretation added to the Black Gold Experience Underground Guided Tour, the Italian-themed Cafe Bracchi and the new Black Gold Exhibition telling the story of what made Rhondda one of the most important places in the world.
“With all of this, along with a host of improvements throughout the site, combined with a range of temporary exhibitions and family events also planned throughout the year, there is always something on offer for all ages at the Welsh Mining Experience.”
