Race For A Nos Galan Place

More than 1,600 places have been snapped up during online registration for the 60th anniversary Nos Galan Road Races.

With race registration fees frozen to the same as last year - £10 (affiliated athletes); £12 (non-affiliated athletes); £6 (children) - demand for places has been greater than ever before.

Online registration this year took place in three separate phases, at three different times of day, in order to allow everyone the opportunity to be able to register.

Competitors can now begin their training in earnest – but please be aware that there is an amended route for this year’s Nos Galan Road Races due to the construction of the multi-million-pound Cross Valley Link. View the new route

Councillor Ann Crimmings, Chair of the Nos Galan Committee and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “Within minutes of each of the staggered online registration phases opening, all places were secured by people all over the world eager to be a part of our 60th anniversary celebrations.

“We always knew that demand for places in this special year was going to be great, but we have been overwhelmed by the response.

“Now is the time for those registered to get on with their personal training ahead of the event in Mountain Ash on New Year’s Eve.

“This can be done outdoors or in the fitness suites at any of our Leisure Centres across Rhondda Cynon Taf, making use of our unique Nos Galan Training Plan.

“If you have been unable to secure a race place, you can still come along on the night and join the thousands of spectators who line to route to be a part of the biggest New Year’s Eve party in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Help us to make this a night to remember.”

Park and Ride facilities will once again be available on the night. Please note: There will be no registration available on day of the event.
