Finishing touches to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's £450,000 improvement programme at Abercynon Sports Centre via #RCTInvest will take place at the end of this April.
In late 2018, the swimming pool at Abercynon Sports Centre reopened following refurbishment of the popular pool, including full re-lining of the pool and improving the ventilation, lighting and filter systems, to ensure it can continue to be enjoyed well into the future.
To complete the refurbishment, further work is needs to take place, which will ensure the pool remains to be accessible to all the customers. This will require a full closure of the swimming pool from April 20 to May 7 for these final works to be undertaken.
Councillor Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: "The substantial investment in the swimming pool and changing room facilities at Abercynon Sports Centre has made a very positive difference to the facility and its customers.
“Staff have worked extremely hard to make the very best use of the upgraded swimming pool, and have introduced aqua aerobics, disability swimming lessons, adult swimming lessons and Aqua High Intensity Interval Training classes. This has further boosted the popularity of this busy centre, and many new customers have been warmly welcomed since the pool reopened.
“That is even more people accessing a healthier way of life thanks to the opportunities that the #RCTInvest programme is delivering.
"We ask customers to bear with us while finishing touches are carried out to the swimming pool at Abercynon Sports Centre, and we look forward to welcoming customers back to the pool in early May”
While the swimming pool at Abercynon Sports Centre is closed from April 20-May 7, customers can use alternative pools in Rhondda Sports Centre, Sobell Leisure Centre, Bronywydd Pool, Llantrisant and Tonyrefail Sports Centres.
