The Council will undertake ground investigations before replacing the automated bollard at Taff Street in Pontypridd Town Centre next year. This requires two Sunday closures in early September 2019.
The main element of the scheme will see the bollard replaced in 2020, utilising funding through the Making Better Use Programme included in the Council’s £25.9m Highways Capital Programme for 2019/20.
The Council will undertake trial holes on two Sundays – September 1 and September 8 – and from 7am to 7pm no vehicles will be able to enter Taff Street from the location of the automated bollard. Vehicular access to the Town Centre will be maintained via Penuel Lane off Gelliwastad Road.
Residents and visitors are advised that Pontypridd Town Centre will be open for business as usual, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. These works have been scheduled over two Sundays to minimise disruption.
The Council may take advantage of the Sunday closures to resurface a small section of Taff Street.
The Council would like to thank residents, traders and visitors to Pontypridd Town Centre in advance for their cooperation. These works will be undertaken as quickly and efficiently as possible.
