Throughout February, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will be celebrating LGBT History month to positively acknowledge the diversity within our communities and champion inclusivity.

In support of the nationally-recognised LGBT History Month, the LGBT rainbow flag will be raised across Council buildings throughout February, along with events being held for both staff and residents.

As part of LGBT History Month celebrations, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, along with partners Coleg Y Cymoedd and community group Proud Valleys will be holding a FREE event with LGBT+ panellists, Q&A time and information stalls on 16th February at Coleg Y Cymoedd, Llwynypia Campus.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Equalities, said “we celebrate LGBT History Month every year, and the positive response that we receive from staff and partner organisations is overwhelming.

“LGBT History Month provides us the opportunity to highlight and celebrate the lives of LGBT people and their allies, both past and present, within our communities and further afield.

“It is important that as an organisation we champion diversity in our workforce and throughout our communities, and LGBT History Month is the perfect opportunity to do that. We are proud to be a Stonewall Diversity Champion organisation, and this is one of the many events we raise awareness of throughout the year, on a range of important issues that impact people in our communities”

LGBT History Month event is on Saturday 16th February, Coleg Y Cymoedd Llwynypia Campus 9.30am-1.30pm. Entry is free, register your place here
