Having been performing for four decades, chart-topping band Showaddywaddy are set return to Rhondda Cynon Taf to perform all of their classic hits at the Park & Dare Theatre in Treorchy on February 8.

Formed from several bands in the Leicester area in the 1970s, in their brightly-coloured suits they have gone on to sell more than 20 million records and continue to tour the world with their unique brand of Rock & Roll music

Their debut single in April 1974, Hey Rock & Roll, reached No2 in the UK music charts, the same chart position for their 1975 hit Three Steps To Heaven.

But their first No1 hit came 43 years ago when Under The Moon of Love topped the UK charts. Many other hits followed, including A Little Bit Of Soap, Pretty Little Angel Eyes and Blue Moon.

Cllr Rhys Lewis, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Well-being and Cultural Services, said: “We are delighted to welcome Showaddywaddy back to Rhondda Cynon Taf, this time at the historic Park & Dare Theatre in Treorchy.

“This iconic band, which appeared at the Coliseum Theatre two years ago, has a massive following and I am sure many of their fans will be eager to get tickets to their latest show in South Wales.

“Come along to the Park & Dare Theatre for a magical night of Rock & Roll as Showaddywaddy take us all on a nostalgic journey through their long-standing music career.

“We have a varied programme of entertainment planned at our two theatres throughout 2019, offering something for all ages and tastes. We look forward to welcoming everyone.”
