Councillor Linda De Vet is the new Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, appointed at the Council's Annual General Meeting on May 15.
Having lived in the Aberdare area most of her life, and passionate about her community, Councillor De Vet has been the elected County Borough Councillor for the Aberaman North ward since 2004.
Educated at Aberdare Girls' Grammar School, Councillor De Vet has worked in office administration in London and Wales.
Married with three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, she is Chair of the governing body at Blaengwawr Primary school and a governor at Aberdare Community School.
Councillor De Vet is keen to meet as many people across the County Borough as she can during her term in Office, helping to raise the profile of many charities and fundraising groups across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
She will be supporting many charities during her year, including Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, Friends of Animals Wales and the New Horizons Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre.
The Mayor’s Chaplain for 2019/20 is Pastor Dr B J Stagner, of Saron Chapel, Independent Baptist Church, Aberaman.
Councillor Susan Morgans will be supporting Mayor, Councillor Linda De Vet, in representing Rhondda Cynon Taf and its communities as Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Deputy Mayor for 2019/20. Councillor Morgans is the County Borough Councillor for the Ferndale ward.
