Christmas is coming and you can celebrate in a Rhondda Cynon Taf Town Centre near you!
Glittering Christmas trees and sparkling festive lights have been installed by the Council in Tonypandy, Llantrisant, Treorchy, Aberdare, Porth and Mountain Ash and lights have also been installed in Ferndale. Pontypridd will also benefit from a Christmas light switch on, courtesy of the Town Council.
Representatives from Tonypandy, Porth, Treorchy, Ferndale, Mountain Ash and Aberdare town centres are working with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to help deliver festive frivolities including a giant snow globe, reindeer, children’s fun fair rides and, of course, the all-important grotto for Santa to meet, greet and personally hand out gifts to the children of RCT.
Please note there will be a charge for the grotto (gift included) and fairground rides.
Both Pontypridd and Llantrisant’s Christmas events will be delivered by Pontypridd Town Council and a partnership between Llantrisant Town Trust and Llantrisant Community Council respectively, with grant funding supplied by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
Each town centre event will also have additional activities and family fun to enjoy – check their Facebook event listings for the latest news and information.
Santa will be in a town centre near you on the following dates:
Pontypridd - Saturday, November 16 (2pm to 6pm)
Tonypandy – Saturday, November 23 (12pm to 5pm)
Porth – Friday, November 29 (3pm to 6.30pm)
Treorchy – Saturday, November 30 (12pm to 5pm)

Why not come along, enjoy the celebrations and perhaps do some Christmas shopping as well?!
Councillor Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Council business, said: “You know Santa Claus is officially on his way when the town centre Christmas events are confirmed.
“The festive celebrations remain extremely popular with families across our communities and are a great way for people to get together to celebrate the start of the festive season.
“As well as being a firm favourite on the events calendar with families, the town centre events also provide an opportunity for shops and local businesses to get involved.
“The Christmas events increase the number of visitors to our town centres, so those who are there for the event can also see what else is in offer in the town and, of course, grab some festive bargains or celebrate with a meal or drink in a local café or bar.
“Residents and visitors are also reminded that the Council runs a festive free parking initiative in Aberdare and Pontypridd, meaning people can park for free in Council-owned town centre car parks in both towns after 10am. This complements the free parking on offer throughout the year in the rest of our towns.
“I am pleased that the Council will once again be supporting Christmas events in both Llantrisant and Pontypridd, continuing our close partnership with both Town Councils to ensure residents in both communities are able to enjoy the festive cheer.”
