Sobell Leisure Centre’s new look Leisure for Life gym and brand-new Spin studio is now open following an investment of over £300,000 – and you can get your first session there for FREE!
An entire new range of Technogym equipment has been installed at the Aberdare centre and the former spin area has been moved out of the corner of the gym and into its own dedicated studio, making way for a huge OMNIA station.
Over £300,000 has been invested in the new equipment and reconfiguration of the popular gym, creating a bright, modern fitness area that has the latest kit and technology to ensure customers get the most out of their workout.
Technogym Skill Mill, Omnia, Excite Climb, Excite Synchro and a huge range of cardio, strength and free weight equipment has been installed in the newly refurbished facility.
Meanwhile in the spin studio, 23 new cycles have been purchased and the design and lighting of the room will allow customers to enjoy an interactive and immersive experience in which they can compete against each other or their own personal best performances.
Councillor Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said: “Sobell Leisure Centre is one of our most popular Leisure for Life facilities, serving the town of Aberdare and beyond.
“Over 2,000 people of all ages travel to use the centre, so it is vital we continue to upgrade and modernise the facilities in line with the needs and expectations of our customers.
“The £300,000 investment, has created a bigger gym with the latest in equipment and fitness technology, plus the addition of an OMNIA station and dedicated studio for spin, which is one of our most popular classes.
“This certainly means that Sobell Leisure Centre, which also has a huge range of fitness classes, a lovely big pool and diving pool and indoor sports courts, offers one of the best all-round leisure opportunities in the area.
“We are so sure of it that we are offering all those who are not currently Leisure for Life members the chance to enjoy their first session in the new gym for free.
“We have now delivered substantial investment in all of our Council-owned leisure centres across Rhondda Cynon Taf to support our aim of creating a healthy and active County Borough. Our approach has certainly paid dividends with more and more people signing up for their Leisure for Life memberships.
“Leisure for Life is so easy and convenient. You can use your membership across all nine of our Leisure for Life centres, depending on where you are or what you want to do. There are over 250 fitness class opportunities delivered from morning to night across the service, as well as unlimited swimming and use of indoor sports facilities.
“Membership also includes gym induction and the support of professional, trained gym instructors and, again, you can go to any of our gyms as often as you like as a member.
“We offer concessionary memberships for those aged under 18 or over 60 and there are also discounts for those on certain benefits.
“First session free is a no obligation way for you to see for yourself just what we have on offer here at Leisure for Life.”
