Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has once again launched its annual Santa Appeal to ensure no child misses out this Christmas.
Lines are open until Friday, November 29
Over the past few years, kind-hearted local residents, businesses and organisations have donated thousands of presents to children who, otherwise, may not have had a gift to open on Christmas morning.
But thanks to the generosity of others, all of the children - identified by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council social workers – woke up on Christmas morning to at least one seasonal gift, each of which had been thoughtfully selected for their specific age.
Last year alone, more than 3,000 gifts were delivered thanks to the overwhelming generosity.
Supporting the 2019 Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Santa Appeal is simple – all you have to do is email email@example.com or call 01443 425025 and tell Santa's helpers how many children you would like to buy a gift for. All gifts donated must be brand-new.
They will then send you the name and age of a child. The name given will be an alias, to protect the identity of the child, but it will represent a real child in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
You have until November 29 to make that call or send that email and pledge a gift. Please note, lines will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday.
You will also be sent details of all collection points so you can choose your nearest - all gifts need to be in open gift bags and at their collection point by Friday, December 6.
Festive service users from the Council's Learning Curve service, and their supporting staff, will then collect all gifts from the various collection points and ensure they are ready and waiting in homes to be opened on Christmas Day.
Councillor Tina Leyshon, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Our annual Santa Appeal is now open and we urge as many individuals, groups, organisations and businesses as possible to get involved and help us once again to make it a huge success.
"This has become a popular and successful Christmas tradition in Rhondda Cynon Taf for many years and thousands of gifts have been delivered to countless children less fortunate than others.
"Thanks to the overwhelming kindness and generosity of the people of Rhondda Cynon Taf, we really can make a difference once again this Christmas – together we can do this!”
