With Rhondda Cynon Taf currently experiencing the second-highest positivity rate in Wales, at almost 200 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 of the population, and the potential announcement of a two to three week circuit breaker which is being considered by the Welsh Government, the Council has taken the decision to continue to limit the numbers per pitch to 30 for all age groups for the next few weeks.
This decision has been taken in the interests of public safety, especially as the higher number of children on a pitch will likely mean a greater number of adults spectating on the sidelines, thus increasing the number of contacts individuals have with others from outside of their household.
The Council appreciates that this is a difficult decision and is not ideal for clubs, but prioritising public safety must be the paramount consideration during a period where cases of coronavirus are continuing to rise locally, and this decision is also in-line with several other local authorities at this time.
The Council is, however, committed to keeping this situation under review and we will move toward the position outlined in the latest FAW guidance as soon as it is safe and practicably possible to do so.
