Tonypandy Bus Station - December 2016-1

Improvements to 17 more bus services came into effect from September 6 and 7 – on top of the changes introduced last week, further increasing the level of service.

In the initial response to the Coronavirus pandemic, a foundation level of service was agreed between bus operators and the Council to control the spread of the virus. With travel restrictions in place, this was considered to be sufficient to allow key workers to access their place of employment, and for residents without a vehicle to access shops for essential food and medicine.

Last week (from September 1), a number of improvements were announced in the first stage of moving away from this foundation level of service, for the benefit of bus users. The full list of those changes can be found here.

With support from Welsh Government’s Bus Emergency Scheme, these additional improvements were made for Sunday services from September 6:

  • Service 100, Royal Glamorgan Hospital to Pontypridd (Edwards Coached) – six further return journeys re-introduced.
  • Service 400, Gwaunmiskin to Cardiff (Edwards Coaches) – five further return journeys re-introduced.
  • Service 9, Glynhafod to Merthyr Tydfil (Stagecoach) – this service has been re-introduced, every hour.
