Children who are Looked After

Under the Social Services and Well-being Act (Wales) 2014,  we will support children to live within their own families as long as it is safe for them to do so, and work with families to overcome the difficulties they are having so that whenever possible, their children can return home. However, if it is not safe or not possible for a child to stay in the family home, Children's Services will make arrangements for them to be looked after by the local authority. Sometimes this is referred to as 'being in care'.
