From April 6 onwards, the Council’s emergency provision of Free School Meals for eligible parents/carers has changed to a cash payment made by bank transfer.

It has replaced the packed lunch system that was used up until Friday, April 3 – and requires all eligible parents/carers to re-apply. This alteration was made in response to changing demand during this period.

The Council has written to all eligible parents/carers to explain the arrangements for re-applying. More details here.

Starting with a first instalment on Monday, April 6, a cash payment is now being made into the bank accounts of those eligible parents/carers who successfully applied. The entitlement for eligible pupils within Rhondda Cynon Taf is £3.90 per day – which equates to £19.50 per week. Payments are being made weekly, each Monday.

This payment is instead of a Free School Meal, and parents/carers are expected to use the money for the benefit of their eligible child/children.
