Coronavirus (Covid-19) ‘Free school meal’ support to families with eligible learners

Week 22nd to 26th February

In line with Welsh Government’s announcement, ‘Nursery to Year 2‘ year groups will transition back to school, with schools also open for vulnerable learners and learners of critical workers.  

For this week, a direct payment into bank accounts was made on or around the 22nd February at £3.90 per day (£19.50 for the week) to all eligible free school meal learners.

Week 1st to 5th March

For those eligible free school meal learners in Year 3 to Year 13, a direct payment into bank accounts for this week was made on or around the 1st March

For those eligible free school meal learners that have been allowed to return to school (All Nursery to Year 2 learners) free school meal payments will end, as meal provision will be available in school. School Registers will be used to identify eligible pupils who are required to ‘self-isolate’ during this week, and a Free School Meal support payment of £3.90 per day will be paid into bank accounts on or around the 15th March.

Week 8th to 12th March

For those eligible free school meal learners in Year 3 to Year 13, a direct payment into bank accounts for this week will be paid on or around the 8th March

For those eligible free school meal learners that have been allowed to return to school (All Nursery to Year 2 learners), School Registers will be used to identify eligible pupils who are required to ‘self-isolate’ during this week, and a Free School Meal support payment of £3.90 per day will be paid into bank accounts on or around the 22nd March.

Week 15th to 19th March

In line with Welsh Government’s announcement, a further transition of pupils returning to school will take place during this week. Those year groups returning include all Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) learners, Years 11 and 13, with schools already open for Nursery to Year 2, vulnerable learners and learners of critical workers.  

As this is a transition week, all eligible free school meal learners in Year 3 to Year 13 will receivea direct payment into bank accounts for this week which will be paid on or around Monday the 15th March

For those eligible free school meal learners that have already transitioned back to school (All Nursery to Year 2 learners), School Registers will be used to identify eligible pupils who are required to ‘self-isolate’ during this week, and a Free School Meal support payment of £3.90 per day will be paid into bank accounts on or around the 29th March.

Week 22nd to 26th March

A number of year groups will now have returned full time, but for those eligible free school meal learners in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 & 12, a direct payment into bank accounts for this week will be paid on or around Monday the 22nd March

For those eligible free school meal learners that have been allowed to return to school (Nursery to Key Stage 2 (years 3-6) learners, Years 11 and 13), School Registers will be used to identify eligible pupils who are required to ‘self-isolate’ during this week, and a Free School Meal support payment of £3.90 per day will be paid into bank accounts on or around the 6th April.

Week 29th March to 2nd April (Easter Holiday)

For this holiday week, a direct payment into bank accounts will be made on or around Monday the 29th March at £3.90 per day (£19.50 for the week) to all eligible free school meal learners.

Week 5th to 9th April (Easter Holiday)

For this holiday week, a direct payment into bank accounts will be made on or around Tuesday the 6th April at £3.90 per day (£19.50 for the week) to all eligible free school meal learners.

In line with the Welsh Government announcement, from Monday the 12th April all learners will return to School following the Easter break.  Free school meal payments will end from this date, as meal provision will be available in school.  School Registers will be used to identify eligible pupils who are required to ‘self-isolate’ during this week, and a Free School Meal support payment of £3.90 per day will be paid into bank accounts on or around the 26th April. Thereafter any eligible pupils required to ‘self-isolate’ each week, will receive the support on a similar payment basis.
