We will endeavour to update this page with the latest information on the availability of council services, road and school closures.

Last updated: Saturday 2nd February - 10:00am

Very cold temperatures and icy conditions continue to affect our County Borough this weekend. No more snow forecast for the time being, but that is subject to change in the weeks ahead.

You can also access a wide range of online services via this website.

School Closures

Any decision to close schools is made by the individual Headteachers, in conjunction with the respective Chair of Governing Bodies. For all the latest updates on school closures, click here.

Social Care

The Council's social care day centres are closed to the public today (Thursday) and will remain closed tomorrow (Friday).

Home meals have been delivered as normal today (Thursday) and frozen meals have also been provided for tomorrow (Friday).

Remember that if you have an urgent or emergency issue, you can contact expert advisers in the Council’s Contact Centre 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week on 01443 425011.

Cemeteries and Bereavement Services

There are currently no changes in place for Cemeteries and Bereavement Services.

There are sometimes exceptional circumstances when we have to close the cemeteries to vehicles at short notice.

If it is necessary to close a cemetery to vehicles, a notice is placed on the Cemetery gates advising the public. As soon as it is safe to do so the Cemetery gates are opened to vehicles.

The cemeteries can be accessed by pedestrians when closed to vehicles but we would urge people to exercise caution when visiting our cemeteries in adverse weather and to ensure they wear appropriate clothing and footwear to avoid falls and injury.

Leisure Centres

Visit the Leisure website for details of your local centre's opening hours.

Outdoor Sports Pitches

Due to freezing conditions and further winter weather forecast, all outdoor sports facilities - including grass, Astroturf and 3G pitches - are closed. For grass pitches this is effective through to Sunday (Feb 3).

All 3G pitches have been inspected by the Council (by 1pm on Friday) and they are still under snow – with more freezing conditions forecast over the weekend. Therefore, all 3G pitches will also remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.
