Formal settings such as schools and sports clubs do play a part, and that's why we spend a lot of our time supporting these types of organisations. We also deliver opportunities ourselves and you can find more information here.
We would encourage you to look at formal settings that can offer local opportunities for your child/children, but we also believe strongly that regular activities as a family are really important. Family support has a big influence on whether a child has the skills, confidence and motivation to be physically active for life.
Here are some resources that can help you to get active as a family.
Sport RCT Coaching Videos
We have a range of coaching videos on this website. The majority are for groups of children, however some of them can be adapted and played with groups as small as 2 or 3. We would recommend Noughts and Crosses, Sand Castles, Domes and Dishes, Coconut Relays and Precision Passing.
Change 4 Life, funded by the NHS, have some great activities for children on their website. They have teamed up with Disney to develop 10 minute shake ups. Take a look here.
