The Mayor

Councillor Watts, Elected Member for Ystrad, who was first elected to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council in 2022, says she is honoured to represent the County Borough as Mayor.

Councillor Watts has named her son Carter Dunning and daughter Ellie Butler as her Consorts during her year in office.

Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Councillor Emma Watts said:

“I am immensely proud, privileged and humbled to have been elected as Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

“Ystrad means so much to me. I have lived in Ystrad Gelli all my life, and my family has called this community home for more than 100 years. I was very lucky to have had a wonderful childhood with a loving and supportive family, and my parents helped make me the person I am today.

“I also feel incredibly proud to follow in the footsteps of my dad, who was also a County Borough Councillor and was elected Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf exactly 10 years ago to the day. I remember how much he enjoyed his time as Mayor, the people he met, and the pride he felt in holding such an important role.

“I am really looking forward to meeting people from communities right across the County Borough, hearing about their achievements, and seeing first-hand the wonderful support that so many people give to make Rhondda Cynon Taf such a special place”.

• National Autistic Society RCT.

Also appointed at the Council’s Annual General Meeting was Councillor Gaynor Warren, Elected Member for Church Village, who will serve as Deputy Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf.
