Born, raised and educated in the Rhondda Valley, and living there all of her life, Cllr Margaret Tegg is keen to meet as many people across the County Borough as she can, fundraising for her chosen charities and paying tribute to all those across Rhondda Cynon Taf who selflessly give their time to help others

Cllr Tegg-1Cllr Tegg, who has been the elected County Borough Councillor for Cymmer ward since 2008, worked in the nursing profession for many years, as well as the retail sector. Now retired, she is a member of the Porth Cluster Communities First, a governor at Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda and chair of the governing body at Cymmer Junior School. 

The Mayor’s chosen charities for 2017/18 are:

  • Alzheimer's Society Cymru/Wales
  • Guide Dogs Cymru
  • Y Bwthyn palliative care hospital, Pontypridd
  • Friends of the Animals Wales, formerly Friends of the Animals RCT

Cllr Tegg’s Consort for the year is Mr Larry Barclay. The Mayor’s Chaplain is Reverend Jeffrey Thomas, of St John’s Church, Porth.
