Thousands enjoy Teddy Bears' Picnic 2022

Teddy Bears Picnic - 2

Thousands of our youngest residents, their parents and carers had incredible fun in the sun as the Teddy Bears’ Picnic made its welcome return to the beautiful Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd.

The fun levels were as high as the temperature, as children aged five and under enjoyed interactive play and demonstrations, live music and fun songs with the ever-popular Heini, music and bubbles from Charlie Bubbles and his Musical Trike, characters, games and much more.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s What’s On RCT team, which is delivering a range of family events across the county borough this year, worked hard to secure the return of the event, which has not been held since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic is held to showcase the huge range of services on offer to children and their families – from choosing the right school or childcare to play ideas, health and dental health, reading, literacy, exercise and more.

Each of the many stalls at the event held interactive games and activities to keep the children entertained while the parents and carers secured the information they wanted or needed.

Cllr Gareth Caple, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “What a joy it was to see our very youngest residents back at one of our most popular events.

“There is a wealth of information, advice and support services out there for families and we want to showcase them to everyone who wants or needs them. But we want it to be fun and engaging, so what better way thank packing up your picnic and teddy bears and heading down to our lovely Ynysangharad War Memorial Park for fun in the sun.

“We welcomed families, schools, playgroups and nurseries and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying this free event.”

Teddy Bears’ Picnic – and all other What’s On RCT events in 2022 – are sponsored by Nathaniel Cars, which has been keeping the residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond on the road, thanks to its committed and professional teams in Cardiff and Bridgend.

They have come on board to sponsor events this year to show their support and gratitude to the community.
