First abnormal load movement travelling to Hirwaun

Abnormal load - Copy

The Council has been advised that the first abnormal load movement near Llwydcoed and Hirwaun has been rearranged to take place on Saturday, January 20.

Plant for an electrical power station is being transported by a specialist haulage company from the County Borough’s northern boundary with Merthyr Tydfil, to Hirwaun.

The convoy will depart from the A465 (near Baverstock) and onto Crematorium Road in the morning, before pausing at Croesbychan and then continuing back onto the A465 to Hirwaun later in the day.

Crematorium Road will close from 9am, while Cwmynysminton Road will also close at the same time.

The closure will be operated with rolling roadblocks from South Wales Police. The traffic team on the ground will assist local traffic, including advising on access for residents and business owners.

Owners of parked vehicles on Crematorium Road are asked to arrange for their vehicles to be parked elsewhere.

Once the abnormal load has arrived at the Future Valleys Construction site at Croesbychan, it will be parked.

The journey to Hirwaun Industrial Estate via the A465 will then continue after the peak afternoon traffic period (around 7pm) and into the evening.

Road users are advised to find alternative routes during these times, or to allow for extra time in anticipation of potentially significant delays.

Thanks to road users for your patience and cooperation.
