Community Recycling Centre Site Rules

PLEASE NOTE:

  • You must not attempt to visit any of the Community Recycling Centres if you or someone you live with has symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature a new, continuous cough or loss of smell (anosmia).
  • Pedestrian access is not permitted due to health and safety reasons.

The following sites will operate with a number of important social distancing restrictions and guidelines in place which residents using the Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) will be required to follow. These are in place to protect staff and the public, whilst also ensuring that the necessary resources are available to meet the expected demand.

ALL the below Community Recycling Centres are OPEN, 7 days a week from: 8am-7:30pm (Monday, March 29, 2021 to Sunday, October 31, 2021) 8am-5.30pm (Monday 1st November- 27th March 2022). Subject to seasonal holiday closures.

There are currently six Community Recycling Centres (CRC) in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

  • Dinas Community Recycling Centre, Cymmer Road, Dinas, CF39 9BL
  • Ty Glantaf Community Recycling Centre, Taffs Fall Road, Treforest Industrial Estate, CF37 5TT
  • Llantrisant 100% Recycling Centre, Pant-Y-Brad Road off Heol-Y-Sarn, Llantrisant Industrial Estate, CF72 8YT
  • Treherbert Community Recycling Centre, Treherbert Industrial Estate, Treherbert, CF42 5HZ

Please note – the ‘Shed’ facilities at the Llantrisant and Treherbert Community Recycling Centres are open Monday - Saturday, 9.30am - 4pm.

Community Recycling Centre Rules

TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF AND THE PUBLIC THE FOLLOWING RULES WILL APPLY TO ALL SITES:
  1. Please stick to the traffic management rules that are in place at ALL times or we WILL have to CLOSE the site.
  2. During busy periods and where queues are impacting the traffic management that is in place you may be asked to return later.  
  3. All items and materials need to be sorted in to waste types, e.g. wood, plastic, metal, glass etc. before entering - NO mixed recycling is accepted. 
  4. ONLY a limited number of vehicles will be permitted on to the site at a time.
  5. Pedestrian access is not permitted due to health and safety reasons.
  6. BE prepared to show proof of residency to gain entry, such as a Driving Licence or utility bill.
  7. When queuing you MUST NOT get out of your vehicle, if you do you will be asked to leave the site.
  8. During extremely busy periods you won't be able to join the queue after 6pm. 
  9. Stay inside your car until you are given permission to get out.
  10. Only one person may leave your car to unload your waste and recycling. Staff are unable to help you unload or lift any items. Please bear this in mind when attending the site. 
  11. You will be given 10 minutes to dispose of your items and then you will be asked to leave the site.
  12. Maintain STRICT 2-metre social distancing rules at ALL times or you will be instructed to leave the site, and the site might have to close.
  13. Respect our staff. Anyone being abusive to staff will be instructed to leave.
  14. Please be patient. There may be long queuing times
  15. Vans (Transit style, up to 1.5t max) ARE permitted, but residents WILL be asked to provide proof of residency. Trailers, cars/4x4s and small vans are also permitted to use the sites. It is recognised that on occasions residents may have a large van or hire a large vehicle for their private use to transport large items for example, furniture or a bed, etc). In order to accommodate this our site staff will take a common sense approach and permit such items to be deposited at the sites.

    This will not include full vans with large quantities of various materials.

    To arrange the disposal of larger quantities then residents will need to contact the main office (07824 541758) to make an arrangement. This booking service operates Mon-Fri (7.30am-3.30pm) and will enable arrangements to be made for visiting your preferred CRC Site.  
  16. The Council offers a ‘Bulky item’ collection service (£12.45 –  up to 3 items) which can be booked on-line on the Council’s website.
  17. Community Recycling Centres are only licensed to accept household waste. No trade waste will be accepted at any of these sites and you will not be allowed to off-load it.  
  18. Please refrain from smoking at our Recycling Centres
  19. We DON'T currently accept: Black bag waste, Mixed DRY Recycling bags or Food waste.
  20. If you’ve had symptoms of Coronavirus, personal items e.g. tissues/wipes (cleaning or personal) or PPE MUST be:✅Double Bagged ✅Left for 72 Hours ✅Placed in to the Container for Non-recyclable Waste. If this is NOT the case, please take the bags home.
  21. Remember to WASH your hands thoroughly after leaving the site
