Ceremony venues - prices and booking information

Rhondda Cynon Taf is one of the largest registration districts within Wales. Our highly trained and experienced staff offer an excellent and highly professional service for wedding ceremonies, civil services and naming ceremonies.

These ceremonies can either be held at the Register office, which is situated within the historic town of Pontypridd, or at one of our impressive country hotels situated at various locations within the county borough.

Pontypridd Register Office – Rooms available for hire

There are three rooms available at Pontypridd Register Office which are all tastefully decorated.

The Rhondda Cynon Taf Register Office

  • The Register Office is available for hire from Monday - Saturday.
  • The room holds up to 10 guests.

The Evan James Suite

  • The Evan James Suite is available for hire from Monday - Saturday.
  • The room holds up to 45 guests.

The Civic Chamber

  • Citizenship Ceremonies are held in the Civil Chamber. Ceremonies are by invitation only and are not open to the public.
  • Please note : A small non-refundable fee is payable to provisionally book the date and time of your ceremony.
Unfortunately, parking facilities are not available at the Register Office. However, there is a large public car park situated at the "Goods Yard" (behind the Bus Station) nearby. The official car will be given a parking permit entitling them to park in the designated parking area at the side of the Municipal Buildings for the duration of the ceremony. Please note: spaces cannot be guaranteed.

Approved premises for ceremonies

There are a number of Approved Premises for Weddings, Civil Ceremonies and Naming Ceremonies within Rhondda Cynon Taf.  These are venues in which our Registrar officers are legally able to perform ceremonies.

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council hereby give notice that with effect from the 1 st January 2014 the following rooms at the Register Office have been licensed as venues for marriages in pursuance of section 26(1)(bb) of the Marriage Act 1949 and section 6(3A)(a) of the Civil Partnership Act 2004.

The applications and the plans of the premises may be inspected at the Register Office, Municipal Buildings, Gelliwastad Road, Pontypridd between the hours of 9.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

If you should decide to get married at one of our Approved Premises, you should contact the venue of your choice and make a provisional booking with the person concerned.

You must then confirm this booking with the Superintendent Registrar at Pontypridd Register Office, to ensure that registration officers will be available on the day, to conduct the ceremony and register the marriage.
